We are spending an entire year catching carp on increasing more difficult baits.
We have rules, prizes and a leaderboard. This post will document the catches in a more in depth manner. Email us at carpladder@ifitswims to join (at any time, catching up would be fun).
Sweet Corn
Probably the most used carp bait these days. a quick easy start to the ladder
Homemade Dough Ball
Before sweet corn took over, this was the way to go. there are hundreds of recipes out there, pick your favorite and catch a carp like its 1972
Bread
Simple, smart and productive.
Chickpea
“Natures Boilies”. We’re going unflavored on this one, soak em yourself, or buy a can. they should be possible as a hook bait, but will certainly do well on a hair.
Hominy
Kinda like corn, it *was* corn, so should be an easy one
Cheese
Cheddar, swiss, that stuff in the back of that one drawer you bought for a specific recipe, but haven’t thrown out yet. Catfish will be problematic here, but we will get past this rung.
French Fry
even curly ones. It needs to be on this list, let’s see em
Corn Nut
Corn nut chip. You know you buy em at truck stops sometimes. They used to be so hard they would crack teeth. Will a carp eat one? Probably. Let’s find out as a group. This is the 1st bait on the ladder that will probably require a hair rig. Try not to eat em all while fishing.
